Kissing and Cooties?

Cooties? Does kissing really give you cooties? This all happened when I was watching some TV serial in the television. The boy was trying to kiss a girl and she was afraid that when she kissed her she might get cooties. So, I became curious to know as what these cooties might be. I would also like to share some thoughts with you about this things called cooties. Hope you enjoy reading it.

Cooties is a childlore said to be an infectious disease. This term may have been originated from small insects like lice, flea etc. A child is said to "catch" cooties when they have some sort of body contact especially kissing with the opposite sex. Often the ones who are infected by cooties are perceived as "different" and has some kind of signs on them like disabled, someone who is very shy. I also found that this particular phase are mostly used by children from age 4-10. But has also been found on high aged kids also.

Since the children only use cooties when people get older and have a better understanding they refer to it as "STD", which is out of topic. But still some information you may need to know. Moreover, this cooties also has it's cure. Not like its incurable. Children usually become immune to cooties once they have been injected with the "COOTIE SHOT". One child typically administers the cootie shot by reciting some sort of rhyme while using an index finger to trace the circles and dots on the another child's foreman.

In some variations, a child may continue to then say "circle, circle / square, square / now you have it everywhere", in which case the child receives an immunization throughout his or her body. These variations may continue to a final shot where the child then says "circle, circle / knife, knife / now you've got it all your life", or "circle, circle / fire, fire / now your shot will never expire", or "nickel, nickel / dime, dime / now you've got it all the time", or "circle, circle / penny, penny / now you have it for infinity" while using their index finger to draw vertical lines on the other child's forearm.

Yet there was also an another treatment found for this cooties disease. The children used an invisible spary on the victim. while spraying the victim they would make a "PSSSSSHHHHH" sound  and depending the victim on the basis of cootiephobia.

But I was finally able to crack this word. It was nothing but a child lore used to scare the children for not kissing each other. It was just a safety measure used by the parents. But STD are real, real as can get. Hope I have helped you guys.
